Inspiring WA is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2025 National Science Week State Grants. These events, led by passionate local organisations, will take place throughout August and showcase the depth and diversity of science engagement across Western Australia.

Perth Region

Serpentine Jarrahdale Library Services – STEM Projects with SJ Library Services
Location: Byford
Hands-on STEM programs for all ages, featuring experienced science presenters and activities that promote STEM learning.
City of Wanneroo Library Service – Decoding the Universe from the Ground Up
Locations: Girrawheen, Clarkson
Engage with geology, crystals, volcanoes, and First Nation's rock art through interactive workshops and storytelling sessions for the whole family.
Cunderdin Youth Council – The Super Sonic Science Experiment
Location: Cunderdin
High-energy science demonstrations designed to engage young audiences with the excitement of hands-on experiments.
Edith Cowan University – Crochet & Cocktails
Location: Joondalup
Discover hyperbolic geometry with Dr. Julia Collins while creating your own crochet models in a relaxed setting at ECU's Birra Bar.
Edith Cowan University – Deaf STEM Camp
Location: Joondalup
A STEM weekend designed for Deaf teens, with tailored workshops and Auslan interpretation to ensure inclusive and hands-on science learning.

City of Kwinana Kooliny Arts Centre – Science Week Space Music
Location: Kwinana
An immersive event combining a live baroque orchestra, NASA imagery, and narration by astrophysicist Dr. Anthony Brian, followed by science activities and Q&A.
Forrest Research Foundation – National Science Week Showcase
Location: Crawley
A public science showcase featuring virtual reality, interactive exhibits, and research presentations from emerging scientists.
Transfolk WA – Trans-formative Science, Celebrating Identity @ Scitech
Location: West Perth
A free evening at Scitech for Perth’s transgender and gender-diverse community, including access to exhibits, the planetarium, and talks from LGBTQIA+ STEM professionals.
Toodyay Community Resource Centre – Roots and Resilience
Location: Toodyay
Three events exploring First Nation's culture, local ecology, sustainable gardening, and virtual ecosystems through nature walks and interactive workshops.
Wheatbelt, South West & Great Southern

Kondinin Community Resource Centre – Little Scientist Club
Location: Kondinin
A weekly science club for students in Years 2–6, complete with lab coats and real equipment to explore biology, chemistry, engineering, and more.
Shire of Harvey – Waste Warriors Makedo
Locations: Harvey, Australind
Learn about recycling and sustainability through creative, hands-on activities, including worm farming and upcycling workshops.

Hopetoun Community Resource Centre – Hopetoun Marine Science Week
Location: Hopetoun
A celebration of the local marine environment with rockpool walks, educational films, and a community art exhibition using marine debris.
Nearer to Nature – Eco-Explorers: Family Science Showdown
Location: Bunbury
An interactive science quiz focused on marine biology and conservation, hosted at Dolphin Discovery Centre with prizes and educational challenges for families.
Narembeen Community Resource Centre – Experiments! Excitement! Explosions!
Location: Narembeen
Supersonic Science delivers an explosive, engaging science show aimed at inspiring future scientists and creating a fun event for the entire family.
Murdoch University – Dieback Busting: Greenbushes Edition
Location: Greenbushes
An educational event on managing Phytophthora Dieback, featuring tree injection demonstrations and sustainable land care solutions.
Mid West & Gascoyne Region

Shire of Carnarvon – Celebrating Science Week on Yinggarda Country
Location: Carnarvon
A culturally enriched science program featuring space science, beekeeping, ag-tech, insect ID, and Indigenous stargazing with Rennee Turner.

International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) – Astronomy Event Series in Mid West WA
Locations: Morawa, Mullewa, Pia Wajarri, Yalgoo, Cue, Mount Magnet
A regional outreach program bringing telescopes, a travelling planetarium, and astronomy experiences to towns across the Mid West.
Shire of Mount Magnet – 2025 Youth Science Day
Location: Mount Magnet
An event including STEM activities such as erupting volcanoes, microscope science, gold panning, hydroponics, and First Nation's science and storytelling.
Mullewa Community Resource Centre – Supersonic Science Show and Workshop
Location: Mullewa
An energetic live science performance designed to inspire audiences through interactive and explosive demonstrations.
